Now, making my best blog post be about super powers seems like an odd topic to choose but for the novice writer or roleplayer this is will be an important list for them to look at. Not because I will be listing the types of powers, because im not that will take far to long, but because I will be describing the types of super heroes with examples. Vigilante: The vigilante type of super hero is typically a normal human with no special powers that has either gotten accesses to or created their own weapons, tech, and suits. They focus more on physical combat and often end up working in teams because they are the ones that inspire others to take a stand against evil. This group is also typically a bit more morally gray then others, dislikes killing but is more then willing to do so if need be. Pretty goal oriented, focusing on a single goal and being temporarily lost at the completion of their goal if they succeed and being devastated if unable to complete their goal. (i.e. Nightwing, Green Arrow, Ironman) Anti-Hero: Anti-hero type of hero can have super powers, they are typically the 'hero for hire' type. Willing to do good things but for a price, this group is also normally goal oriented though not always.Very strong moral compass, unwilling to harm certain groups of people (women and children appear to be the most common) but willing to kill if needed, normally standing up for those weaker then themselves and more willing to admit when they cant do something and to ask for help. Also a bit unhinged, finding excitement in odd places, being attracted to the 'crazy' ones, typically either super charming/sociable or extremely unsociable/charming, and have a strong but very restricted skill set. (i.e. Deadpool, John Constantine, Wolverine) Natural Super Powered/Mutant This group is that who have super powers naturally or are normally considered Mutants. The good guys in this group typically want to see the world safe and to give mutants rights so that they dont become experiments locked away in some secret facility. The range of powers here varies in large degrees because it is a natural mutation that has happened in the mutants DNA. Some powers do have extreme down sides and all powers do have their limits but for the most part these powers seem to be safe to the Mutant harnessing them. (i.e X-Men) Unnatural Super Powered/Accidentally Powered This group gain super powers by accident, these powers can also harm the user. The powers here can vary greatly because it is a mutation in the DNA which causes their powers to form but it normally correlates to whatever gave them their power, a slight mutation already located in the DNA that was exasperated, or what was surrounding/in the person at the time of the accident. The Heroes in this group typically feel that God or some other being has given them these powers for a reason and that reason is to protect their families or city. (i.e. Flash, Spiderman, Scarlet Witch) Artifact/Item In some cases the hero gets their power from an Artifact or item, in most of these cases the Hero must be in contact with the item or they wont have access to their powers. In alot of these cases the Artifact or Item chooses its 'Vessel, host, user" and are considered sentient beings. Often having a complex reason that the hero doesnt find out until later on, for why it chose them. Now there are obvious downsides to being a hero whos powers are based on an item or artifact that can be dropped or removed from the hero so it is no longer in contact. Luckily sense the Item chooses who it will work for in most cases the Artifact/Item wont work for the villain but occasionally it does. (i.e. Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, Vixen) Learned Power Now the group of people who have learned how to use super powers with out having an artifact or DNA Mutation is small but they are out there in the super hero universe so in such they should be mentioned here. Like all other heroes they feel the need to help people though this typically only comes after they have started to learn and a tragedy occurs. (i.e. Doctor Strange) Alien There are heroes who have powers solely for the reason that they are from another planet, though sometimes its because on Earth somthing reacts with their DNA and causes the powers and other times its because their species of Alien have just always had the gifts and they were considered normal on their planet. In most cases the Aliens are refuggees, seeking a safe place to call home sense their planet is dead or dying or they were being hunted by another radical group. Once here they choose to protect their new home with the powers they have, typically from alien invaders but not always. (Superman/Super girl, Martian Manhunter)
